River Run Welcomes Rollstone Bank & Trust on July 1, 2025
We are pleased to share that Rollstone Bank & Trust (RBT) will officially become part of River Run Bancorp, MHC effective July 1, 2025, following the successful completion of all required regulatory approvals. This is an exciting moment for River Run—and one made possible through the collective efforts of our teams across Newburyport Bank, Pentucket Bank, and Rollstone Bank & Trust.
Since announcing this partnership last fall, teams from each of our three banks have worked diligently behind the scenes to prepare for a smooth and thoughtful integration. Their collaboration, professionalism, and shared commitment to community banking have brought us to this milestone. We are proud of the work they’ve done and grateful for the energy and focus they continue to bring to this effort.
The addition of Rollstone—a well-respected, nearly $1 billion mutual savings bank serving North Central Massachusetts—not only strengthens River Run operationally, but it also reinforces our mutual values and mission. Together, we now represent a $3.6 billion organization committed to delivering personalized financial solutions while preserving local leadership, independence, and service to our communities.
While RBT does not currently have its own Corporator body due to its federal charter, it will now be represented by the existing River Run Corporators, who will serve on behalf of all three affiliated banks: Newburyport Bank, Pentucket Bank, and Rollstone Bank & Trust. Additionally, select members of the RBT Board and Leadership will be sworn in as Corporators to provide RBT with representation alongside each of you in the Newburyport Bank and Pentucket Bank markets.
As previously announced, Martin F. Connors, Jr., President & CEO of Rollstone, will retire and transition to a new role as Executive Chairman of RBT’s Board and Vice Chairman of the River Run Board. Upon his retirement, Mary Beth Jokela, current Chief Operating Officer at RBT, will step into the role of President & COO—becoming the first woman to lead the institution in its 179-year history.
This partnership continues to demonstrate the strength and viability of the mutual banking model when enhanced by collaboration, scale, and a shared sense of purpose. Our commitment to our customers, employees, and communities remains at the heart of everything we do—and it’s through partnerships like this that we ensure that commitment endures for generations to come.
